The story revolves around the prospector’s success at finding some gold, his relationship with his mule, his encounters with native Apaches, and his trip home with his gold. “What Happened at Groom Creek” is a Sheriff Turner Mitchel story about his efforts to bring a murderer back to stand trial. “Their Lucky Day” is about a husband-and-wife team of prospectors and their luck at finding some gold and living to talk about it. “Shoot out at Antelope Creek” finds Sheriff Turner Mitchel pursuing another outlaw.
