The Old Ways is Jake’s first case after he killed Penny’s murderer. The father of a murdered college professor hires Jake to find his son’s killer. Jake, still reeling from Penny’s death, he hampered now by the events of Penny’s case. The police have him on a short leash. He sticks closely to police procedures and begin his investigation. This simple Jake Colby story has twists and turns that keep the action going, complicate Jake’s investigation over and over, until he discovers the father has not told him everything, he needs to know to solve the case. Once he has all the information needed to solve the case, Colby moves the case quickly to a conclusion that almost results in his own death.
