Bill Hollis is the sheriff in Rapid City. He is looking forward to retirement. One day he finds his replacement; a sheriff named Charlie Black. That sets Hollis up to retire and get to work raising horses for the army. All goes well until disaster strikes in the name of killers who arrived on his ranch, killed his wife, mother-in-law, and his partner. The killers seriously wound Hollis. When he recovers, he sets out on a mission of revenge. He uses the help of a native American tracker to find the killers. Hollis’s relationship with the Sioux Indians was shaky, at best. The tracker doesn’t want to help him. But in the end the tracker does help him but also makes Hollis understand that he has the choice to kill the killers or bring them to justice. The question is will Hollis kill men who invaded his ranch or will he bring them back to Rapid City to stand trial. No one would blame him if he killed them No one would blame him if he brought them back for trial. In the end, Hollis finds some peace and gets back to life on his ranch.
