The Collected Stories of Sheriff John Tester include all the stories written to date. The list includes The Hunt. John Tester is a fictitious sheriff in the 1880’s in Phoenix, AZ. He works alone without a deputy. When a deputy is needed Judge Lawerence fills in for a deputy. The stories find Tester in every situation a sheriff encountered. Some of the stories are as short as 2000 words many large much longer. Here is a short example:
“Sheriff John Tester lay with his back against a cactus. He pulled himself upright as far as he could with a view of Phoenix in the distance. His horse, dead, was a few feet down the hill. The horse tumbled down the hill spilling Tester’s valuables along the way. Tester’s rifle, canteen, saddle bags, and bedroll lay in a wide arc around the horse. He moved his right hand to his holster; he had his colt. He looked at his badge; not all was lost, except that he took a bullet in the leg, the same bullet that killed his horse.”
I hope you enjoy Tester’s exploits.
