Natives who want his mule Clara for food delay his trip home. The natives capture Clara and Carlos has to decide; what’s most important? He decides Clara is most important. Clara has been his companion ever since he left Mexico and crossed the great Sonoran Desert to get to Arizona. The story follows Carlos’ efforts to get Clara back.
